The Principal of Hirst & Co is Ross Hirst.
Ross attended Brisbane Grammar School and has degrees (Law with Honours and Arts) from University of Queensland
He was admitted as a Solicitor in February 1985 after completing articles specialising in family law with a leading Brisbane firm commencing in 1983.
He joined Seymour Nulty Solicitors in 1985 and remained with the firm as it transformed to National firm Phillips Fox. Ross became a partner of that firm in 1988. Ross was also a partner of Barry & Nilsson lawyers.
In 1996 Ross left Phillips Fox and established Hirst & Co as one of Brisbane's first specialist boutique family law specialist practices. Since then Ross has represented thousands of client's involved in separation and matrimonial issues.
He has a particular expertise and experience in complex property matters and matters involving difficult partners. He has represented many business owners and professionals.
Ross was the Secretary of the Family Law Practitioners Association of Queensland for several years. He also edited the magazine published by that organisation. He has been a columnist for the Courier Mail Newspaper in family law legal matters.
He is a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.
Ross has consistently been named since the early 1990's as a leading practitioner in family law including the publication Legal Profiles.
He offers a one on one service which is unique.
